Rosso Cenere
Stromboli, memory and the visionary afterlife of Rossellini’s cinema.
Rosso Cenere explores the poetic, mystical and visionary dimensions of the island of Stromboli and Roberto Rossellini’s 1950 film Stromboli, terra di Dio. Restored footage from Rossellini’s film meets Vittorio De Seta’s Aeolian documentaries and previously unseen home movies by Ingrid Bergman.
Four islanders — two directly involved in the 1950 production — appear alongside critic Adriano Aprà , a leading authority on the neorealist director.
