A film about memory, inheritance and the African American experience fifty years after the end of Jim Crow.

Beginning on Chicago’s South Side, Shadowgram asks what changed after the Civil Rights Act, what remains, and how hopes and memories pass between generations. A cross-section of residents — including a psychiatrist, administrator, teacher and hip-hop artist — revisit childhood, family histories and the long reach of structural racism in everyday life.

The film received worldwide patronage from UNESCO’s The Slave Route project for its research into African American heritage and community.
